Sharif University Professor Appointed as a Core Member of the OIC-15 Dialogue Platform’s Expert Group

Dr. Hamidreza Rabiee, a professor in the Artificial Intelligence Group of the Department of Computer Engineering and Head of Sharif University of Technology’s Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Innovation Center, has been appointed as a core member of the expert group of the OIC-15 Dialogue Platform, established by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

According to the Public Relations Office of Sharif University of Technology, Dr. Hamidreza Rabiee was selected as a core member of the OIC-15 Dialogue Platform’s expert group by the Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (COMSTECH).

The OIC-15 Dialogue Platform was established to bring together leading experts from the advanced member countries of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation in order to explore practical mechanisms for strengthening cooperation in the fields of emerging technologies and innovation. Through expert-level discussions, the platform provides an opportunity to identify shared priorities, develop joint research programmes, strengthen scientific capacities, and establish broader scientific networks among member states.

At the platform’s technical committee meeting, topics including artificial intelligence (AI), information technology (IT), and their role in digital transformation, healthcare systems, cybersecurity, education, and industrial automation will be among the main issues discussed.

Within this framework, the development of emerging technologies in OIC member states should move beyond the establishment of infrastructure and focus on strengthening technological sovereignty, policy frameworks, national strategies, and operational programmes aimed at advancing science and achieving sustainable development. Continuous, long-term cooperation through the OIC-15 Dialogue Platform can help enhance the scientific capabilities of member states, promote innovation-driven growth, and contribute to sustainable social and economic transformation across the OIC region.

The first coordination meeting of this expert committee will be held on Tuesday, 5 May 2026.
